maybe this is a toxic trait but whenever nobody is helping me ID a creature I found on iNaturalist I'll go back in and edit the broader classification to something absolutely wrong (like putting a moth in the spiders category) and 100% of the time someone will come charging in guns blazing and ID it down to the species level correctly. people are more likely to help you when you are confidently wrong about something lmao
